CONFERENCE LOCATION

Lyon, France

Lyon, located in southeastern France, is the country’s third-largest city and a major cultural and economic hub. Renowned for its historical and architectural landmarks, Lyon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its well-preserved Renaissance old town, Roman ruins, and vibrant culinary scene. Situated at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers, Lyon has long been a center of commerce, particularly in the silk and textile industries. Today, it’s also known for its dynamic tech and startup scene, prestigious universities, and annual Fête des Lumières (Festival of Lights), which attracts visitors from around the world.

Conference Location: Cité Internationale | Lyon, France

The Conference will be held in Lyon's Cité Internationale district, nestled between the Rhône River and the Parc de la Tête d'Or.  It is located approximately 30 minutes from Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS) and approximately 20 minutes from the city center.

All delegates will be responsible for transporting themselves to and from the Conference location.  There are many hotels that are within walking distance.  We will provide more details about the location as we get closer to the Conference.

The following are useful facts to assist your visit to Lyon:

Climate: At the end of September, Lyon typically experiences mild and pleasant early autumn weather. Average daytime temperatures range from 17°C to 22°C (63°F to 72°F), while evenings can cool down to around 10°C to 13°C (50°F to 55°F). The city may see some light rain, as September marks the beginning of a wetter season, but it’s usually not heavy or prolonged.

This time of year often brings a mix of sunny days and overcast skies, with the changing foliage adding a colorful backdrop to the city’s historic streets and parks. A light jacket or sweater is usually enough for daytime, with warmer layers needed for cooler evenings.

Language: The official languages of Lyon are French and English.

Currency: The official currency is the Euro but credit cards are widely accepted. For the current rate in your currency go to www.xe.com.

Electricity and Adapter Plug: In Lyon, as in the rest of France, the standard plug types are Type C and Type E:
* Type C: Also known as the Europlug, with two round pins.
* Type E: Like Type C but with an additional grounding pin; most Type C plugs are compatible with Type E sockets.

The standard voltage is 230 V, and the frequency is 50 Hz. If you're coming from a country with a different voltage or plug type, you may need a plug adapter and possibly a voltage converter, depending on your device.

Conference Dress: The dress code for the Conference is business casual.  We recommend bringing a light sweater or jacket for the sessions, as meeting rooms can often be chilly.  An umbrella would also be a wise option in case of unexpected rain showers.
